SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 16 :
Sikhs today protested against sacrilegious acts inside gurdwaras in Punjab saying Shiromani Prabandkhk Committee has let down Sikh community and has acted as mute spectator against the desecration acts.
The protesters demanded proper investigation into the incidents and said that stringent punishment should be given to culprits who are repeatedly hurting the sentiments of Sikh community.
Under the banner of Gurmat Taksal, (Institute of Gurmat Studies) the protesters assembled in Press Enclave Srinagar carrying pamphlets seeking punishment for the culprits.
The protest was led by Gurmat Taksal General Secretary Devender Singh.
Singh told news agency Kashmir News Trust that incidents related to desecration are taking place almost on daily basis in Punjab. He alleged that people associated with Dera Sirsa indulge in sacrilegious acts.
“Sometimes, miscreants lit ciggretts inside the Gurudwara and sometimes they dishonour our living holy book called Guru Granth Sahab. This is unacceptable,” he said.
The protesters said that these acts should stop and government must take action against miscreants for hurting the sentiments of Sikh Community. (KNT)
