Srinagar, Jan 15 :

The Administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh has ordered a freeze on the boundaries of all administrative units across the UT in view of the upcoming Census-2027.

According to a notification issued by the Planning, Development and Monitoring Department as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, the boundaries of districts, tehsils, municipalities, towns, revenue villages and other administrative units in Ladakh shall remain unchanged till the completion of the Census exercise.

The decision has been taken under the powers conferred by Clause (iv) of Rule 8 of the Census Rules, 1990, the notification said.

It further stated that the order shall be deemed to have come into force with effect from January 1, 2026.

The notification has been issued by Commissioner/Secretary, Planning, Development and Monitoring Department, UT of Ladakh, Dr. Laltinkhuma Franklin, IAS. (KNC)
