Dachanpora, Rafiabad – In a tragic incident, a leopard attacked the cattle shed of Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Dar, son of Abdul Samad Dar, in the dead of night, leaving a trail of devastation.
The ferocious predator mauled 19 sheep to death, dealing a significant blow to the livelihood of the farmer. The attack occurred late at night when the village was asleep. The next morning, Ghulam Mohi-ud-din discovered the horrific scene in his cattle shed, with carcasses of the sheep scattered around.
“This is an unbearable loss for me,” said Dar. “I had been raising these sheep for years, and this incident has shattered my means of earning a livelihood.”
The locals expressed their concern over the increasing incidents of human-wildlife conflict in the area. They urged the authorities to take immediate steps to prevent such tragedies in the future. Dar has appealed to the wildlife department and the government for compensation to recover from the financial loss.
“The wildlife department must act swiftly to address this menace and provide us with compensation to rebuild our lives,” he said.
Residents of Dachanpora also demanded enhanced measures to protect their livestock, including the installation of fencing and increased patrolling in vulnerable areas. As of now, wildlife officials have assured an investigation into the matter and promised to provide necessary assistance to the affected family.
