SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 16 :
Senior Congress leader and former Minister Kheem Lata Wakhloo Saturday lamented over the loss of lives in Kashmir Valley. She said bullets from both sides take lives of Valley people.
While addressing a press conference here in Dalgate area of Srinagar city, Kheem Lata Wakhloo said that Kashmir is a land of saints that had attracted the attention of people world over for its peace, amity and scenic beauty.
“It is heart wrenching to see people dying due to bullets. Let us live in peace and maintain communal harmony. Both Muslims and Pandits need to live like brothers and revive the example of brotherhood,” she said.
She said people of Kashmir have suffered immensely and they need succor. “Government must address the grievances of people on priority basis,” she said and appealed authorities to discourage red-tapism.
Kheem Lata Wakhloo said that gun is not a solution to any problem. “To kill a human-being is to kill humanity. Those youth who resort to violence and killings should understand that life is precious and a gift from Almighty,” she said and hoped that peace will prevail in Kashmir.
She said that youth of Kashmir possess immense talent who could do wonders if given an opportunity and space. “Government need to harness the talent and energy of youth,” she said and condemned the recent civilian killings. (KNT)
