BANDIPORA 10 JULY :
A night patrolling party of Forest Department seized illicit timber which was being smuggled from Ashtangoo forests of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Officials said a patrolling squad of forest department team led by Range Officer Kuihama Mohd Maqbool under supervision of DFO Bandipora Shabir Ahmad seized intercepted one Maruti car carring Illicit timber measuring 51 fts.
During the search operation a huge quantity of illicit timber was found dumped near Vechile which was also seized on spot.
DFO bandipora Shabir ahmad told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that special night patrolling squads have been constituted in vulnerable areas of bandipora for preventing the forest offences. This ‘successful operation’ is attributed to such step.
Shabir ahmad said there were reports about the involvement of this particular car in smuggling of timber so that we had kept surveillance on this and seized car with timber.
He further said that culprits manged to escape due to darkness how ever person are identified and further investigation is going on.(KNS)
