Initiatives are being taken towards Reviving Culture, Says DC B’la Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar

In order to promote and develop Culture at grass root level, Shah Qalandar Folk Theatre in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today organised a day long Folk Programme at Government Degree College Boys Baramulla here.
Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar participated in the event as the Chief guest while as the President MC Baramulla Tauseef Raina was the guest of honour. Programme was also attended by several noted academicians and prominent citizens, students besides Principal GDC Boys Baramulla.
On the occasion, a variety of Cultural programmes were performed by various prominent figures whose mesmerizing presentation evoked applause from the audience.
While talking to media, the Deputy Commissioner first complimented the organizing departments especially JKAAC and said that the Academy is trying to reach every segment of the society through such mega festivals adding that the main objective of the scheme is to promote and develop culture at the grassroots level.
She further said that initiatives are being taken towards reviving cultural activities across the Union Territory. She assured all possible support to the local artists from District Administration for preserving and promoting the local art, culture and folk traditions.
Meanwhile, Several students of various schools of the district also presented performances which were highly appreciated by the audiences.
