Srinagar, May 20 :

Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, announced one-day state mourning as a mark of homage to Iran President Dr Seyed Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, alongside others, announced dead in a tragic helicopter crash on Monday.

The national flag will be flown at half-mast throughout the country tomorrow (Tuesday) on all buildings where the national flag is flown regularly.

“There will be no official entertainment on the day,” reads the notification, a copy of which lies with GNS.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, and various political figures back home including Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari deeply condoled the demise of Raisi and those accompanying him in the fateful chopper which, as per Iran State Media crashed in a foggy, mountainous region of the country’s northwest.

Meanwhile, Grand Mufti J&K, Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam also expressed his profound condolences over the sad demise of Raisi. (GNS)
