Terms PRIs as the Agents of Socio-economic Devtt, Sought their Active Participation
Baramulla, August 12: Principal Secretary to the Government, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries departments Navin Kumar Choudhary today paid visit to Baramulla district where he took stock of overall developmental scenario of the district.
At the outset, the Principal Secretary chaired an interactive meeting with DDC members which aimed to get the first hand appraisal of their concerns pertaining to developmental pursuits. The DDC members highlighted several grievances and demands one on one, and sought their timely redressal in order to accomplish the goal of development at grass root level.
Meanwhile DDC chairperson, Safeena Beigh gave a special presentation wherein she highlighted several matters having developmental significance. She also appraised various issues and demands pertaining to developmental concerns wherein she sought personal intervention of the Principal Secretary for fulfilling the developmental aspirations.
The Principal Secretary gave a patient hearing and assured that all the developmental concerns of the PRIs shall be fulfilled so that the vision of democratic decentralisation is realised. He terms them as the real agents of socio-economic development at ground level and urged upon them to play a proactive role in the journey of development. The Principal Secretary also issued onspot directions to various concerned officers with regard to resolution of several issues pertaining to developmental concerns.
Later, Navin Kumar Choudhary chaired a separate meeting with the heads of concerned departments where he took review of the pace and position of some major developmental projects undertaken by different executing agencies in the district.
On the ocassion, District Development Commissioner Baramulla Bhupinder Kumar presented a detailed account of progress cum performance recorded in various sectors through the power point presentation. The DC also presented a brief district profile and highlighted some bottlenecks and impediments that are hampering the path of development. He further informed the current status and position of COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing vaccination campaign that has been launched in the district to combat the further spread of virus.
After taking a sector wise and comprehensive review, the Principal Secretary emphasized upon the functionaries to strictly abide by the timelines that have been fixed for the completion of developmental projects. He directed to productively utilise all the available resources and urged upon them to work with added zeal and dedication so as to enhance the quality and efficiency of public services.
Navin Choudhary also stressed for the incorporation of latest and modern farming practices like the organic and sustainable farming which has the potential to create more and more opportunities for our farmers. He also directed to educate the farmers with the latest know-hows and disseminate awareness about various welfare schemes and programmes at ground level.
Directors of agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, fisheries, sericulture, horticulture planning and marketing, heads of concerned departments, engineers of line departments, district and sectoral officers among other functionaries were present in the meeting.
