Budgam, Oct 26 :
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the National Conference (NC) leadership, accusing the party of neglecting ordinary people during its rule in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a gathering in Budgam, Mehbooba as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC said, “I urge people of Budgam, not only those supporting the PDP, but also supporters of the National Conference, to decide that the shopkeeper who promised you that he would be available 24 hours with his shutter open, giving everything for free, has now closed the shutter. He is asking people to install smart meters, pay for water, and face increased prices of gas cylinders, while there is no question of providing jobs to youth.”
She alleged that during Omar Abdullah’s tenure, thousands of youth were imprisoned and innocent people faced immense hardships. “Those who once claimed to represent the people have now distanced themselves from their promises,” she said.
Referring to Omar Abdullah’s previous electoral victory in Budgam, Mehbooba said the NC leader had won with a huge margin, promising to stand by the constituency. “But today, he has betrayed the people of Budgam by abandoning them and ignoring their concerns,” she remarked, drawing applause from the crowd.
PDP chief said the district had long been neglected by leaders who used it merely as a stepping stone to power. She appealed to locals to unite under the PDP banner and support Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi, describing him as “a sincere and dedicated representative who understands the pain and aspirations of the people.”
Mehbooba reaffirmed the PDP’s commitment to restoring the dignity and rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, stressing that meaningful change can come only through unity and accountable leadership. (KNC)
