Srinagar, March 23:
Urging government to revisit the new act for regulating diagnostic labs , Chairman Jammu Kashmir Civil Society Forum(JKCSF)and Former President EJAC Ab Qayoom Wani Wednesday said that the conditions in the new act would almost render the labs in J&K defunct resulting in huge miseries for patients ,Thousands of Skilled youth and the public alike. In a statement, Wani said that putting more economic burden on small labs amid economic slowdown was unfair.
He said the new act warrants a general lab to hire a doctor which means an additional expenditure of more than thirty thousand monthly in addition to other expenses like municipality fee and other expenses. He said, the procedure to obtain licences for start-ups has also been complicated as they would be now required to obtain NOCs from PCB, Municipality, and other departments. He added that now the NOC from PCB has been made mandatory even for the x-ray and USG plants which had made the process more complicated. According to Wani more than three lakh skilled persons are directly or indirectly associated with the sector and urged govt to reconsider the decision and save the livelihood of thousands of skilled youth who are running these diagnostic centres in Jammu and Kashmir.
