Srinagar, Mar 30 :
The Jammu and Kashmir government on Monday informed the Legislative Assembly that there is currently no proposal to initiate fresh adhoc appointments in health institutions under the Hospital Development Fund (HDF) or any similar arrangement.
Replying to a starred question by MLA Shabir Ahmad Kullay, the Health and Medical Education Department, as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, said that prior to the ban imposed through Government Order No. 43-F of 2015 dated March 17, 2015, skilled local youth were engaged in hospitals under HDF on a minimum honorarium to meet immediate service requirements.
The government clarified that such engagements were temporary in nature and did not provide any right for regularisation. It further stated that it is not correct to say that discontinuation of such engagements adversely affected hospital functioning, adding that HDF workers are still serving in various health institutions across the Union Territory.
The department also informed that there is no policy under consideration for fresh engagements of this kind, nor is there any proposal to empower medical superintendents to hire junior resident doctors or paramedical staff on an adhoc basis. (KNC)
