URI, JUNE 7 :

A nomad was injured after being attacked by a bear in north Kashmir’s Uri sub division of district Baramulla on Monday afternoon.

Official sources told GNS that the nomad hailing from Poonch was attacked by black bear in Shaladajan forest of Nowshera village in Boniyar area of Uri.

Officials identified injured as Mohammad Mumtaz son of Babu Kiler
Station House officer Boniyar Tariq Ahmad Shah told GNS that a medical team and police team immediately rushed to spot and the injured person was given first aid and later he was shifted to government Medical College Baramulla for advanced treatment.

Range officer wildlife Baramulla Altaf Koul told GNS a team will be rushed to the spot to assess the situation.
It is pertinent to mention that a leopard was spotted in Uri town and Shahdara village along LOC in Uri on Sunday evening.

Meanwhile, the locals of Uri demanded a Wildlife Control Room in Uri town. Locals said Uri teshil comprises of at-least 50 villages and it takes much time for team(s) to reach Uri from Boniyar or Baramulla.(GNS)
