The Jammu and Kashmir Higher Education Department has said that the older NAAC accredited colleges in Jammu and Kashmir shall act as hubs and mentors while newly established, younger colleges shall be the spoke models.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the department has said, “All colleges shall initiate an innovation, research and startup ecosystem in a hub and spoke model.”

Principal Secretary, Higher Education Department, Rohit Kansal has also said, “Older NAAC accredited colleges will be the hubs and mentors while newly established, younger colleges will be the spokes and the mentor colleges shall take initiative in research and innovation especially as per demands of area and support research in spoke colleges.”

“Structured career counselling and placement cells shall be activated in all colleges and a minimum of four counselling or placement sessions shall be held in each college annually for the advice and guidance of the students,” it reads.

The department has also said that the sessions can be introduced jointly by colleges with larger colleges acting as mentors and hubs. “The premier college of the district will act as Hub and mentor for all other colleges in a district.”

“Coaching and guidance for higher entrance tests, admissions to foreign universities and guidance for civil services shall be provided and the soft skill coaching shall also be initiated for enrolled students as an add on,” it reads—(KNO)
