Baramulla: One person died and three others were injured on Tuesday when militants hurled a grenade inside a newly opened wine shop in the Dewan Bagh area of Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday late evening.

A police official said two militants riding on a bike stopped near the newly opened wine shop at Dewan Bagh Baramulla. The pillion rider wearing a Burka walked to the window of the said wine shop and dropped a grenade inside the said wine shop through the porthole window and thereafter fled away on the bike from the spot

They lobbed the grenade towards the wine shop at the court road around 8:10 pm in which four persons sustained critical injuries and where rushed to nearby by Associate Hospital of GMC Baramulla where one of them succumbed.

The hospital sources identified slain as Ranjit Singh son of Krishan Lal age 52 yrs. of Rajouri while as other injured were identified as Goverdan Singh S/o Gajender Singh age 35 yrs. of Kathua, Govind Singh son of Gurdev Singh age 35 of Rajouri, Ravi Kumar son of Kartar Chand age 36 of Khatua.

 A police officer confirmed the grenade blast and told that attacker disguised himself as buyer. He said that the area has been cordoned off and searches have been launched to nab the attackers.

Meanwhile, Kashmir Zone Police tweeted, “Terrorists lobbed hand grenade inside a newly opened wine shop in Baramulla. O4 employees got injured. One among them succumbed to his injuries. All are from Jammu division. Area cordoned and search started to nab culprits.”

Area has been cordoned and search in the area is going on. Police has registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law and investigation is in progress. Officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of this terror crime, police spokesman said.

Sources said that the attack took place in the Deewan Bagh area of Baramulla town which is high security zone as all top security forces offices and residences of DIG , SSP of Baramulla and top Army officers are located adjacent to the  wine shop location.
