SRINAGAR, JUNE 30:
People’s Democratic Party president Mehbooba, who chaired party’s core group meeting at her residence on Wednesday, has said that People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) was formed to represent aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and she was not away from it, sources said here.
Sources told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that Mehbooba had called a meeting of party’s core group today at her residence where she reiterated that PAGD was formed to represent the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and it will continue to do so.
A senior leader, who participated in the meeting today said that Mehbooba Mufti said that she was not away from the PAGD, but due her personal engagements the PAGD meeting, which was scheduled to held on Tuesday, was postponed.
He said that Mehbooba also discussed several issues which emerged out during the all-party meeting at New Delhi on June 24.
“She said that she put forth her point of view at the all-party meeting. She said that it was a welcome step that J&K leaders were called for an all-party meeting and were given a chance to put forth their views. Dialogue is always a first step toward positive developments in every democracy and PDP has always advocated for dialogue, be it with Pakistan, separatist leaders or mainstream leader of J&K,” he said.
He said that Mehbooba also said that New Delhi has their own point of view, which they also put forth during the all party meeting.
Sources said that the meeting was attended by senior leaders including Sartaj Madni, Nizam-ud-din Bhat, Abdul Rehman Veeri, Abdul Gaffar Sofi and Ghulam Nabi Lone.
Pertinently, PAGD, a conglomerate of several Jammu and Kashmir political parties had called a meeting on Tuesday to discuss issued that emerged during all-party meeting, however, the meeting was postponed due to “personal engagement” of Mehbooba Mufti. To mention, Mehbooba Mufti is the vice-president of the PAGD.—(KNS)
