ISLAMABAD ,MARCH ,30 :

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has now been pushed to a corner after his party’s major ally – Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQMP) – extended support to the Opposition.

With this development, Imran Khan has lost the majority in Parliament.

Pakistan’s Opposition now leads the numbers game with 175 members, reported The News.

The MQM-P reached an agreement with the joint Opposition late on Tuesday. Senior leader of the MQM-P Senator Faisal Sabzwari confirmed the move.

Soon after that, Opposition Leader in the National Assembly and President Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) Shehbaz Sharif, former President Asif Ali Zardari, chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, President of Pakistan Democratic Movement and chief of JUIF Maulana Fazlur Rehman reached the residence of Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui at the Parliament Lodges.

Secretary, Information, PPP, Faisal Karim Kundi said the press conference scheduled to be held on Tuesday had been postponed to 4 pm on Wednesday.

Sources said the final announcement will be made after the approval of the Rabita Committee of the MQM-P.

The MQM-P’s move right before the no-confidence vote on Thursday has almost sealed Imran Khan’s fate as he needs at least 172 votes to stay in power.

Here’s how the government fares against the Opposition now after MQM-P’s move.
