In a shocking incident, a 70-year-old patient admitted in the District Hospital Kulgam here allegedly committed suicide on the hospital premises on Saturday night. The police identified the deceased as Abdul Ahad Malla of Tarigam area.
Sources said that he ended his life by jumping from the fourth floor of the hospital building around 6.55 am on Saturday . The incident sent shock waves among patients and staff in the hospital.
When contacted, Medical Superintendent, Dr Muzaffar Ahmad, he told CNS that the patient was suffering from COPD and depression might have prompted the old man to resort to the extreme step. Further investigation is under way, he said. (CNS)
