SRINAGAR, MAY 22 :

J&K Peoples Conference today denounced administration’s decision to re-advertise Rehbar-e-Janglat, Rehbar-e-Zirat, and Rehbar-e-Khel posts and termed it absolutely wrong and unjustified.

“We are totally against this decision. Governments are about consistency and continuity. The soul and essence of governments in any democratic setup is a continuous chain of decisions which are carried on by new governments in the interest of the people. If every government is to challenge and undo the actions and decisions of the previous governments then it would certainly be a recipe for disaster”, party spokesperson Adnan Ashraf Mir said in a statement.

The party said that it is not appropriate for governments to undo policy decisions taken by successive elected governments for the betterment of the people.

“The current administration is apparently saying that they have the moral right to decide what is right and what is wrong. Whatever has happened in the past is wrong and they are the new moral crusaders to set it right. The reality is that we are a part of democratic India where democracy is a norm and non popular rule or Governor’s rule is an exception. It is not appropriate that an administration perches itself on the moral pedestal and decides to undo most of decision taken in the past and redo things”, the statement added.

PC further maintained that by undoing the decisions of the past democratically elected governments, the administration is in essence challenging and making a mockery of the established societal, political and governmental norms and traditions.

“Let’s assume the next government which comes wants to undo the decisions of this administration, it would be detrimental to the progress of J&K. We have to accept the decisions taken by successive elected governments. That is what continuity in governance demands. That is how societies are made. That is how nations are built”, the statement concluded.
