SRINAGAR , JANUARY 08:

Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum has taken a dig on stake holders in the government for making tall claims of development on the territory of Jammu and Kashmir through foreign investment on one hand and receiving complaints of people on the other hand.
“It is happening that people are deprived of even basic facilities in winter days”. In a statement issued here, Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum Chairman (JKCSF) Abdul Qayoom Wani expressed anguish over the lack of basic amenities such as accumulation of snow on roads, lack of sufficient medical staff and medicines in hospitals. The shortage of food items in the markets and rising prices have added to the suffering of the common man. The Society, meanwhile, reiterated its demand that the property and lands of Jammu and Kashmir be retained as property only for its residents and not that any foreign non-Kashmiri be made its owner under any law. The Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum said in a statement that the forum has been receiving demands from regional societies around across the length and breadth in Jammu and Kashmir not to sell Kashmir’s valuable land under the newly amended laws at any cost. Instead, reserve all forms, including Kahcharai and Khalsa Sarkar, only for the people here.

The Forum has demanded that in view of the snowfall, all the concerned departments viz Mechanical Engineering, Department of PHE Department of Power, Department of Consumer Affairs and Supply and Jammu-Srinagar Highway and other mountain routes should be kept open. It is important to keep in mind that tourists as well as dwellers should be treated equally.
