President of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee and MLA Tariq Hamid Karra, on Saturday expressed concern over shortcomings in the implementation and execution of the previous budget, saying delays in fund allocation had caused widespread public dissatisfaction.
Speaking to reporters outside assembly complex in Jammu, as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, Karra said, “I want to place on record that when the last budget was presented, there were serious shortcomings in its implementation and execution. Because of this, people were extremely upset. It took a long time for funds to be allotted.”
“Now, we hope that this time there will be a clear improvement in implementation and execution,” he said.
Referring to budgetary figures, Karra sought to clarify the allocation under SASKI, stating that the amount mentioned was around ₹1,450 crore.
“As far as my understanding goes, SASKI is not a grant-in-aid. The government receives approximately ₹1,450 crore under this head three times,” Karra added.
He stressed the need for transparency and timely utilisation of funds to ensure that budgetary provisions translate into tangible benefits for the people. (KNC)
