SRINAGAR ,AUGUST,27:
J&K Peoples Conference today held a massive gathering of workers at Krishan-Bal Eidgah. Party’s senior Vice President and former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil, senior leader Mohammad Khursheed Alam and Irfan Mattoo addressed the gathering.
While addressing the gathering, Vakil asserted that Peoples Conference will emerge to become the strongest voice of the people of J&K.
“People of J&K have been trapped in the post August 5, 2019 situation. The PC will stand up for them in our united quest to retrieve back that is rightfully ours”, he said.
Vakil further said that the current LG administration has failed to do justice to the aspirations of the common masses of J&K and that there is an urgent need to restore democracy in J&K.
“The people of J&K have been denied their constitutional right to elect a popular government. J&K has been under the Central rule for 4 years now and apprehensions are growing in the minds of the people that GoI is not serious about holding assembly elections and are therefore denying the people their right to choose their own representatives. While the citizens of this country outside J&K enjoy the basic right of electing their own representatives, it is a pity that the people of J&K have been denied this very basic right in a functioning democracy, he added.
While addressing the gathering PC senior
leader Mohammad Khursheed Alam assured people that PC will leave no stone unturned in fighting for the legitimate democratic and constitutional rights of the people of J&K.
“We at the PC believe that exiting changelessness is a big challenge and an even bigger challenge is navigating a dignified way out of the the troubled waters we find ourselves in today. I have no doubts that our party under the leadership of Sajad Lone sahib will do everything possible to put a halt to further disempowerment and tirelessly strive to restore the lost dignity and rights of the people”, he added.
