CMO refutes allegations about non-availability of doctors at hospital

Kupwara Apr 24 : Family members of a 40-year-old pregnant woman, who allegedly died at sub-district hospital Kupwara during treatment, held a protest demonstration alleging that she died due to negligence on part of hospital authorities.

Reports reaching here said that the family members of the woman alleged that no doctors were available at the hospital to treatment the patient.

In a video, which is doing rounds on several social media platforms, family members could heard saying that the patient was having severe pain, following which patient was administered an injection, but that didn’t bring any relief to her.

They alleged that she was also given painkillers and was shifted to theatre; however, no doctor was available to treat her there, till she breathed her last.

The family members, joined by locals later staged a protest and demanded action against the hospital authorities.

They urged LG Manoj Sinha and deputy commissioner Kupwara to personally intervene into the matter.

The deceased woman has been identified as Rubeena Bano resident of Zangli village of Kupwara.

Meanwhile, when contacted chief medical officer Kupwara, Dr Bashir Teli while refuting allegations of non-availability of doctors said that the lady was suffering from severe anaemia and when she was being shifted to hospital theatre, she had a cardiac arrest and died.

He added that a committee will be set to probe the incident thoroughly and if any body is found guilty they will be dealt as per the law.
