SSFI congratulates its President, those associated with snowshoeing jubilant in Kashmir

Srinagar: Snowshoe Federation of India (SSFI) has congratulated its President Mir Muddasir for being elected as World Snowshoe Federation (WSSF) Vice-President adding another feather into SSFI’s cap.
In statement issued here, SSFI said that it is first time ever that anyone from India has made it to main body of World SnowShoe Federation. The primary mission of WSSF is to serve as the international governing body for the Sport of Snowshoe Racing and to assist in the organization and governance of the various national governing bodies for Snowshoe Racing around the World.
Those associated with snow or winter sports in Kashmir are jubilant as Mir Muddasir is first Indian and first Kashmiri to represent Kashmir in SSFI and WSFF. SSFI has been conducting Invitational SnowShoe events across the premier winter sports destinations in India and particularly world famous winter tourist destination Gulmarg Kashmir.
A snowshoe racer said that Snowshoeing is one of the fastest growing winter sports and can be done by anyone. If you can walk, you can snowshoe; if you can run, you can snowshoe run. It really is that easy to get started. The sport of snowshoe running has a competitive element with races around the world.
“The sport has both National and World Championships, and there is an effort to include the sport in future winter Olympics. In general, there are three categories of snowshoes: Running, Hiking and Backcountry,” he added.
