A Pro-government gunman who was at the forefront of anti-militancy operations in Jammu and Kashmir in the 90’s, has died after a long imprisonment at central jail Srinagar on Friday.
The deceased man identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Akram Dar, a native of Pampore in Pulwama district was serving his term from last 22 years.
As per reports to CNS, the foremost pro-government gunman Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, alias Mushtaq Gund Baghi, after surrendering and taking part in formal anti-militant operations, was a wanted target of the active military organizations at that time and the members tried to target their bullets several times, but he escaped from such targets every time.
During the year 1998, the deceased killed civilians, after which the Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested him and lodged him under various provisions in the Central Jail, Srinagar.
Police sources say that after almost 25 years of the crime, today during the night, Mushtaq Dar died in the Central Jail, Srinagar. Sources said that after 2014, three close relatives of the deceased were killed in anti-militancy operations. Among them is the suicide bomber of the CRPF convoy in Lethapora Pulwama, Adil Dar, who according to the sources is the cousin of the deceased. Meanwhile, the police have handed over the body to the next of kin after conducting the post-mortem. (CNS)
