Parents in North Kashmir are raising concerns about private schools allegedly disregarding government directives. Despite a recent announcement by the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) offering syllabus relaxation for students from 1st primary to class 9th, many private schools have reportedly refused to comply. Parents allege that schools are continuing with the full syllabus, causing undue stress to students ahead of examinations.
Adding to their grievances, parents accuse private schools of arbitrarily hiking fees without any approval from the Committee of Fee Structure. They claim there is confusion among the community as no clear directives have been issued about permissible fee increments, yet many schools have raised their fees significantly.
“We are left in distress as the schools are neither reducing the syllabus as announced by the government nor maintaining transparency in fee structures,” said one concerned parent from Baramulla.
The parents have appealed to higher authorities to intervene and ensure compliance with government orders. They also demand clarity from the Committee of Fee Structure regarding fee regulations and strict action against schools violating rules.
