Srinagar, December 05 :

Apni Party Chief Spokesperson and mentor Baramulla-Kupwara districts Javid Hassan Baig on Sunday urged the district administration to rehabilitate Fatehgarh-Narwav shopkeepers whose shops were gutted down in a recent hapless fire incident.

In a statement issued to SNS, Baig expressed his profound sympathies with the fire victims while saying that such an ominous incident has further added to the existing woes of these small business ventures.

“The current economic slowdown has already put our business community especially small-scale traders and shopkeepers under a huge economic stress wherein such unfortunate eventualities further push them to the wall,” he remarked.

Baig urged the administration to rehabilitate these fire victims and provide adequate compensation to them in view of the heavy losses borne by them. “The administration must see to it that ex-gratia is provided to these shopkeepers so that they could resume to live a dignified life and earn for their families through their hard work,” he added.

Baig also asserted that it is incumbent on the district administration to establish a fire-station in Narwav in case of such emergencies.

“In 2017, the government had already taken up a decision to set up a fire station in Narwav area so that such eventualities could be brought under control timely and effectively but to this day it seems the administration is acting complacent to this requisite demand,” he observed.

He said that Narwav along with its villages is a densely populated area where in presence of a fire station many devastating fire incidents can be avoided.

“I am hopeful that the Lt. Governor led administration would consider this genuine demand of establishing a fire station in Narwav so that in future such ill-fated incidents can be positively averted,” Baig demanded.
