Cyber Police Station Jammu has succeeded in apprehending a fraudster involved in Rs 19 Lakh online cyber fraud case, registered vide FIR No 17/2021 under sections 66D o f IT Act, 420 and 120.B of IPC at Cyber Police Station Jammu. The accused was identified as Parmod Devgan, son of Ravi Devgan, resident of Gurgaon Haryana.

As per details, on April 13, 2021, complainant namely Nissar Ahmed of Mahore, Reasi reported at Cyber Police Station Jammu that he was duped by unknown fraudsters on pretext of allotment of Indian oil petrol pump. The complainant further stated that he applied online for allotment of petrol pump and got trapped in luring offers and consequently lost Rs 19,02,000 lakh in multiple transactions in different banks.

During course of investigation, the Investigation Officer succeeded in identifying the fraudster who defrauded hard earned money of the complainant. SP Cyber Police Station, after ascertaining location of accused, deputed a dedicated team led by Inspector Vikram Sharma, Investigating Officer of the case under supervision of DySP Cyber Priyanka Kumari to apprehend accused. The team, acting swiftly, arrested accused from Hissar, Haryana and brought him to Jammu after completing all legal procedures. Further questioning of accused is going on to ascertain involvement of others into the case.

Cyber Police Jammu S P Naresh Singh has appealed to general Public not to share bank details OTP, UPI PIN etc and never get lured with cheap online offers floating on social media and other online platforms offering products with unjustified and cheaper price. Never rely on information like customer care numbers, fake links etc floating on web space which often pop-up on your computer screen as part of search results history on search engines. Review periodically security of your online accounts. Stay alert and vigilant against these online fraudsters, he asserted.
