Srinagar, February 11, 2025 The construction of the world’s tallest railway arch bridge over the Chenab River in Reasi district, Jammu & Kashmir, stands as a monumental feat of engineering, taking nearly 12 years to complete. On January 8, 2025, the bridge achieved a historic milestone with its first trial run, showcasing a remarkable achievement for Indian Railways.
Documenting this extraordinary journey—capturing the intricate construction process in a detailed chronological narrative for both national and international audiences—was a challenge in itself. This responsibility was entrusted to Sangarmaal Productions, led by filmmaker Asrar Sultanpuri, who successfully brought the story to life.
Reflecting on the project, Asrar Sultanpuri expressed pride in his team’s accomplishment, stating, “This was a demanding yet deeply fulfilling project for Sangarmaal Productions. I am grateful that we have completed the 45-minute documentary, which has been approved by Northern Railway and Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) before being presented to the senior management of AFCONS Infrastructure Ltd., the executing agency for the bridge project.”
The final version of the documentary was officially handed over on January 22, 2025, at AFCONS Infra Ltd.’s Head Office in Andheri West, Mumbai. A photograph commemorating the occasion features Sh. Sandeep Desai, IT Head, and Sh. Naresh Kumar Sharma, Corporate Media Head of AFCONS Infra Ltd., alongside Asrar Sultanpuri as he delivers the film on a hard disk.
Sultanpuri also acknowledged the dedication of his team, saying, “This is a significant achievement for Sangarmaal Productions and every team member who contributed their best to bring this project to fruition.”
The documentary not only highlights the engineering marvel of the Chenab Rail Bridge but also serves as a testament to the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders involved in this historic endeavor.
