The Jammu and Kashmir School Education Department has devised a chain of mechanisms to propagate the knowledge of digital literacy of e-services wherein the trained teaching staff would teach the principals and headmasters of high and higher secondary schools.
The department has said that it has worked out a mechanism wherein Chief Education Officers (CEOs) in collaboration with District Institute of Education and Trainings (DIETs) shall identify the Master Resource Persons (MRPs) among teachers, masters and lecturers.
The teaching faculty includes those who are already trained by SCERT and are well versed in delivering Digital Literacy skills to Principals and Headmasters of High and Higher Secondary Schools and School Nodal Officials for ICT who shall in turn train all their students in their schools.
The news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) has learnt that the New Education Policy (NEP) cell of Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) in this regard has issued a communiqué to all CEOs and Principal DIETs.
“The UT of Jammu and Kashmir is leading the country in its digital initiatives and e-governance measures and in this regard, it stands the priority of the government that the benefits of this -Governance reach all its citizens. The Government of Jammu and Kashmir is offering a number of on-line e-services for the benefit of its citizens,” it reads.
It also states that these e-services remain underutilized because of the lack of know-how of the common citizens of its usage. “Therefore, disseminating this digital literacy to the common man is the need of the hour and our foremost priority in the good interest of our society and country as a whole.”
“Therefore, School Education Department has worked out a mechanism wherein CEOs in collaboration with DIETs shall identify the Master Resource Persons (MRPs) among teachers, masters and lecturers who are already trained by SCERT well versed in delivering Digital Literacy skills to Principals and Headmasters of High and Higher Secondary Schools and School Nodal Officials for ICT who shall in turn train all their students in their schools,” reads the communiqué.
The NEP cell has also said that the students will in turn communicate it to their family members and Community members with the help of School Nodal Official about the availing of these e-services offered by the government of Jammu and Kashmir.” The process will be supervised by the concerned CEO Principal DIETs.”—(KNO)
