Ramban, July 16 :

The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gool has formally withdrawn an earlier order that had linked ration distribution to student attendance in schools under Zone Gool of Ramban district.

According to the latest order, a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS, the previous directive issued under office number SDM/G/149-52 dated 16/07/2025 has been rescinded with immediate effect.

The now-withdrawn order had required parents of school-going children (up to Class 12) to produce attendance certificates at fair price shops in order to receive ration entitlements. The move was aimed at curbing low attendance in government schools.

However, after public feedback and concern over the directive, the administration decided to revoke the order in the larger interest of residents. (JKNS)
