Srinagar, Sept 02 :
Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh Saturday said that security agencies are heading to make J&K terrorism-free and drug-free. He said the efforts are on to engage the youth of J&K into mainstream activities including sports and make them aware of the unwanted consequences of terrorism and separatism.
“I congratulate youth of J&K for treading path of building their future and distancing away from terrorism and separatism. The future of every nation’s depends on its youth. Luckily J&K has huge amount of youth power that needs to be engaged in the right direction. J&K Police and other security agencies in tandem took multiple efforts in recent past to engage youth into positive things. Recently J&K Police, Army and other security agencies organized female cricket tournament, downtown cricket tournament, police football tournament etc to engage our youth in positive way. I can say security agencies are heading towards terrorism-free and drug-free J&K and this dream will come true soon with the active participation of all stakeholders,” DGP Dilbagh Singh in an exclusive talk with KNS said.
He said the youth of Kashmir valley have realized the intentions of terrorists and their handlers as how terrorists motivate innocent people to fulfill their hateful and anti-people designs. “The youth of J&K have distanced themselves from terrorism and separatism. They are concentrating on their education and building their prospect bright. J&K Police and other security agencies are committed to provide support to our youth in contributing in nation building,” DGP Dilbagh Singh said.
On rising trend of drugs in J&K, the DGP said sometimes facts and figures are being distorted in a well coordinated way, but the reality remains different. “The J&K Police with the help of other security agencies has curbed this menace a lot. Today the drug trade is on decline mode. Seizures are taking place day in and day out, be it small or huge. In past we used NDPS Act in a limited scale but it has been enhanced now. Those involved in drug peddling and spoiling future of our youth are not being spared. Regular vigil is being conducted on hotspot areas. We are dealing with such elements more sternly. But there is a need of societal cooperation as well. If we wish to make J&K a Nasha-Mukt, then this dream will not come true without the active participation of all stakeholders,” he said.
DGP at the occasion commended people of J&K for cooperating enthusiastically in smooth conduct of Amarnath Yatra. “This year the annual Amarnath Yatra was more successful than previous years. A good number of pilgrims in and outside India took part in the Yatra and visited holy cave. I reiterate that Yatra is more of people’s than ours. This year it continued for 62 days which is a great achievement. The things happened smoothly in the meanwhile and all arrangements were extra-ordinary. Luckily atmosphere was also favorable this year. Locals also took part with great fervor. They erected food stalls and provided all possible help to pilgrims,” he added.
He hailed the role of security agencies for ensuring successful and incident-free Amarnath Yatra 2023. “There were adequate security arrangements done. Every branch of security agency contributed immensely. I congratulate every security agency for providing possible help to pilgrims. Besides I also praise local Kashmiri’s for their immense support,” he also added. (KNS)
