‘DGP RR Swain, GoC 16 Corps Lt Gen Sandeep Jain Co-chair meeting; plan discuss to wipe out foreign terrorists from Poonch-Rajouri areas, Vigil to be heightened on highways, forest areas; security agencies to ensure complete synergy, work on intelligence’

A high level security meeting was held in Jammu on Saturday where officers of various security agencies deliberated on the challenges while as a “counter strategy” to deal with all threats was discussed threadbare.

The meeting held in Jammu, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) was jointly chaired by Director General of Police (DGP) RR Swain and General officer Commanding (GoC) 16 Lt General Sandeep Jain. Senior police and army officers attended the meeting. Officers from the various intelligence agencies were also present. The security review meeting comes a day after the army lost five of its men including two captains in two-day long gun-battle in the woods of Rajouri. The encounter also saw the killing of two foreign terrorists including the Lashkar-e-Toiba top commander, IED expert and the trained sniper Qari.

Police and army had termed the killing of Qari as a great success stating that Qari was involved in the two deadly attacks—Dhangri and Kandi. The slain LeT commander, as per security agencies, was trained in Afghanistan and other countries. Police had stated that slain Qari was active in the Poonch-Rajouri area for the past one year.

White Knight Corps wrote on X, formerly known as twitter, “A Core Group Security Review Meeting was co-chaired by GoC 16 Corps and DGP, J&K. It was attended by the senior officers of CAPF, intelligence Agencies and JKP along with senior army officials. Matters pertaining to the security situation, Sharing of intelligence and Synergy in the Jammu region were discussed and deliberated during the meeting.”

An official source privy to the meeting told KNO that the officers after highlighting the security challenges, also finalised the counter strategy that includes maintaining the highest level of synergy among all security agencies and building more human and technical intelligence to reach out the remaining terrorists in Poonch-Rajouri range. The northern army commander Lt General Upendera Dwivedi yesterday (Thursday) said that 20 to 25 terrorists were still operating in Rajouri-Poonch as the districts were linked to highways.

“A strategy was finalised to generate inputs about suspicious moments in Rajouri and Poonch areas. All security agencies will maintain synergy and launch intelligence based operations while ensuing zero collateral damage,” the source said, adding that “the meeting discussed that all security agencies will step up the vigil on highways and areas closer to forests.”—(KNO)
