Baramulla, J&K: In a proud moment for the sports fraternity of North Kashmir, Shahid Maqbool Mir from Wahigund Tangmarg has been selected in the Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) Season-3 auction. The young talent was picked by the Bengaluru Strikers for an impressive ₹3 lakh, marking a major milestone in his cricketing journey.Shahid’s success has been widely celebrated across the region, with special appreciation directed towards his coach and mentor, Zeeshan Pervaiz, and his home club, Affarwat-XI Sports Club Baramulla. Shahid credited his achievement to the dedicated guidance and support provided by Zeeshan Pervaiz, who has been instrumental in shaping young sporting talent in the district.Established in 2014, Affarwat-XI Sports Club was founded by Zeeshan Pervaiz with the vision of promoting sports culture and nurturing youth through structured training. A former fast bowler himself, Zeeshan has worked tirelessly for years, ensuring that young players receive opportunities to showcase their abilities at higher platforms across the country.Local residents and sports enthusiasts have lauded Zeeshan’s continuous efforts in keeping the youth engaged in sports and steering them away from negative influences, particularly drugs. Many believe his commitment has played a transformative role in developing a healthier and more disciplined sporting environment in Baramulla.A public appeal has also been made to the UT Government, urging officials to recognise and honour the contributions of Zeeshan Pervaiz.
