SRINAGAR, JUNE 19 :

The social welfare community Zoonimar Srinagar has raised a complaint against SKIMS authorities for mismanagement in the hospital.

The Welfare society, which includes masjid committees, imams of various masjids, civil society, social activists and citizens of Soura and adjacent areas, in a letter a copy of which lies with agency—Kashmir News observer (KNO) reads “Since last two years particularly during the two waves of COVID 19 pandemic, the society had noticed malfunctioning and mismanagement in SKIMS Soura hospital.”

The letter further reads, “patients are facing hardships due to deficiencies in drugs, chemicals, disposables, poor hygiene and due to deficiency of oxygen in the hospital.”

“Agents are selling drugs and disposal items inwards and ICUs as drug counter in hospital are always short of basic drugs,” the letter reads.

The letter further alleges that “patients who undergo surgery have to purchase everything from the market, and patients have to pay as they are paying in a private nursing home.”

“The hospital only admits Covid patients and other patients like heart, kidney, stomach and other neurological patients are ignored or treated at tertiary care hospital.”

Welfare society alleges that funds provided by the government are not used for patient care but only for renovation and repair.

The welfare society has appealed to the government to streamline the functioning at SKIMS and investigate frauds and punish whoever is responsible for this mismanagement and frauds happening in the hospital and appoint honest and competent administration for the hospital—(KNO)
