Our College Property Damaged on Unknown Grounds, Says Dilafroza Qazi
PATTAN , AUGUST 3:
Authorities of SSM College in Parihaspora Pattan area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district have strongly protested against the demolition of the college property by the district administration.
While divulging the details in a presser in Srinagar Chairperson of college Dilafroza Qazi said, “If the administration has any issues with our institution, I am ready to voluntarily hand over the college, but the demolition process should be stopped,”
She added that a team of SSM college management reached Parihaspora Pattan on Tuesday morning and were shocked to see that a wall of the college, volleyball court, tennis court, security quarters and a canteen had been demolished, causing severe damage to the lodge.
“Although we tried to stop the operation, they did not listen to us and continued to work,” she said.
She further claimed that no prior notice had been issued to management of the college before demolition drive and the team carrying out the operation did not have any written order for the operation, she claimed.
She said that on the one hand the government is spending crores of rupees for the promotion of sports and on the other hand the district administration has demolished the sports infrastructure of the college .
“Where in the world an attempt is being made to destroy an educational and research institution?” she questioned.
She added that the government and the court have clearly instructed that if there is such a complaint with a hospital, educational or welfare institution in any place, compensation or land should be collected in return.
She mentioned that at present 3,000 students are studying in the college and such actions could endanger their future.
“If the government has any issue with our college, I am ready to voluntarily hand over the college to them” she added.
She appealed to the LG administration to take immediate action in this matter to save the future of students studying in the college. (CNS)
