SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 27 :
Chairman Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Front (J&K PDF) and former Minister Hakeem Mohammed Yaseen on Wednesday impressed upon the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to direct law enforcing authorities to immediately stop random harassment of youth under the garb of anti-national slogan row over an Indo-Pak Cricket match as random harassment of youth goes against the Home Minister’s latest promise on engagement with youth in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement issued to KNS, Hakeem said that since reconciliation with youth is the only way to further the causes of engagement with youth of Jammu and Kashmir, better it would be for the government to give youth a chance to reconcile to the idea of India even if they are involved in objectionable sloganeering over an Indo-Pak cricket match played in Dubai last Sunday.
Saying that punitive actions should be restricted to two time and three time offenders only, Hakeem demanded amnesty for such youth including medical students who have for the first time resorted to objectionable sloganeering in a procession over the outcome of a cricket match played in Dabai. (KNS)
