Baramulla, June 22: Department of Legal Metrology Unit Baramulla registered cases against two medical shops outside GMC Baramulla for selling Pulse Oximeters in violation of Section 18 and Section 36 (1) of the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 read with Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011.
Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Baramulla/Kupwara Mudasir Ahmad told Kashmir Images that one of the medical shop(s) was found offering for sale an identical product at different prices. He said that the shop priced one unit of Oximeter at Rupees 2999 and another identical unit at 3999.
In a separate case, as per the official, another medical shop was offering for sale Oximeters bareft of any statutory declarations.
The team seized the deceptive products and issued seizure memo against the medical shops on the spot, he said adding that a case in violation of Section 36 (1) of the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 read with Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011 has been made out in this regard and further legal proceedings set into motion.

Meanwhile, a special team of drug department suspended drug license of a chemist in Uri in Baramulla district.
Assistant Drug controller North Kashmir Mohammad Bashir inspected dozens of chemists shops in Uri market on Tuesday and a found chemist violating Drug and Cosmetic Act.
The license of chemist was suspended by special team of drug. The team also issued some show cause notices to other chemists also.The special team included Mohammad Bashir ADC NK, Yousuf Mohudin DCO Baramulla, Feroz Ahmad DCO Pattan and Abdul Majid,” sources said.
Sources said that special drive will remain continue against those who are violating the drug and cosmetic act. Locals appreciate the role of drug department for its efforts.
