SIT constituted, dispute over land, cash suspected reason: Police

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 05 :

Jammu, the winter capital got rattled with a major shootout incident that took place in Arnia area of RS Pura subdivision in which two persons got killed while two got seriously injured on Friday.

Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the incident took place on Friday morning after which police have taken up investigation of the case and a special investigation team has also been constituted.

Officials said that incident took place on Friday morning when four men travelling in a Scorpio and two travelling in Thar car entered into heated arguments after which shootout took place.

“Four men were allegedly fired upon by two others in which all four received injuries and two of them died on spot,” said officials.

They further added that two injured have been shifted to the local hospital where they are under treatment.

Deceased have been identified as Sabar Chowdhary and Arif Chowdhary while two injured are identified as Babar Chowdhary and Parveen Kumar.

Injured Babar is elder brother of deceased Sabar Chowdhary.

Officials of police further said that the deceased got killed in firing with an assault rifle which was the service weapon of one of the alleged accused among two who are police personnel.

“The alleged accused are police personnel of the Reserve battalion of police and one of the alleged accused was carrying his service weapon,” said police officials.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Chandan Kohli said that a special investigation team has been constituted into the matter which will be headed by SP HQ Jammu, Ramnish Gupta.

He added that prima facie it seem that dispute over land and cash is reason behind the incident—(KNO)
