Dr Syed Sehrish emphasis ROs, AROs to acquaint themselves with necessary information

BARAMULLA, SEPTEMBER 09:

In a significant step towards upcoming Municipal/Urban Local Bodies Election 2023 in Jammu and Kashmir, a training programme for returning officers (ROs) and assistant returning officers (AROs) was today organised at Dak Bungalow with Deputy Commissioner/District Election Officer Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar, presiding over the programme.

The training programme was attended by Deputy District Election Officer Baramulla, Nodal Officer SVEEP, NT Elections, Master Trainers, Trainers, ROs AROs, besides other concerned functionaries.

During the training session, ROs and AROs were imparted training about their role and responsibilities, nomination process, scrutiny of nomination papers, withdrawal of candidature, provisions of the model code of conduct, EVM management for upcoming Municipal council Elections.

On the occasion, Dr Sehrish emphasized on the critical role of ROs and AROs and urged them to prepare in advance the action plan for the upcoming elections and acquaint themselves with necessary information and latest directions of CEO J&K, to ensure free and fair Municipal Elections.

DEO also emphasized adopting a coordinated approach for hassle free elections in the district.

Meanwhile, the DEO was informed that the elections will be conducted in 06 Municipalities across the district consisting of 88 Wards and 149 polling stations.

During the programme, a thorough question answer session was also held to clear the doubts about the procedures and rules for the conduct of free, fair, and transparent Elections in the district.

Later, a brief presentation of ‘ROs Handbook for Municipal Elections 2023’, was unfolded and was distributed among the concerned authorities.
