Leads Plantation Drive, Felicitates Meritorious NEET Qualifiers, National Inspire Awardee student Shahida Bano of Government Boys Middle school Sheeri Payeen and her guide teacher Reyaz Ahmad Ganai

Continuing Union Government’s special public outreach programme in Jammu and Kashmir and as part of the Azadi ka Amrut Mahaotsav celebration, Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture Meenakshi Lekhi accompanied by Vice Chairperson JK KVIB, Dr. Hina Shafi Bhat paid visit to Baramulla district where she carried out several activities having larger public significance.

The minster visited Govt Girls Higher Secondary school Baramulla where she kick started the plantation drive during which a number of saplings were planted in the school premises. The Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Bhupinder Kumar along with other concerned officers also participated in the plantation drive.
Speaking on the occassion, the minster stressed upon all the departments who were present there to participate in the drive so that a good number of trees are planted to maintain the ecological balance at large which is vital for a healthy and progressive society. The minster urged upon the officers to be a part of the this prestigious programme and make the plantation drive a successful.
She stressed for planting of maximum number of saplings in the premises of all the other offices and institutions aswell. Furthermore, the minister was informed that good number of trees will be planted in coming days in various government offices, schools, Panchayat ghars and other institutions in the district.
After leading Plantation Drive, the Minister also felicitated the meritorious NEET qualifiers besides felicitated National Inspire Awardee student Shahida Bano of Government Boys Middle school Sheeri Payeen who was flanked by her guide teacher Reyaz Ahmad Ganai.The minster complimented the felicitated students and their teachers for their performance and emphasized upon them to work hard in their respective domains.
While falicitating the NEET qualified Aspirants, the minster advised the fraternity to acquaint themselves with modern means of education adding that present dispensation at the central level is very keen to upgrade the employability of students by means of different skill development and job oriented courses.
Meanwhile, a variety of cultural programmes were presented which depicted cultural diversity and heritage of the region.
Earlier, the Minister conducted an interactive meeting with DDC members, BDC Chairpersons, MC presidents and PRIs among other stakeholders, and listened their developmental aspirations and concerns.
On the occasion, the concerned stakeholders appraised their grievances and put forth their demands meant for the overall development of the society.
The minister gave a patient hearing and expressed happiness over the meeting held with the PRIs. She said that Union Government has a good dream for development of Jammu and Kashmir, adding that the present out-reach programme has been initiated by the Government to know the basic problems of the people at the ground.
She also assured that the demands and grievances projected by the delegations have been taken note of and the same would be put up with appropriate authorities for their timely redressal.
The minster also extended congratulations to the PRIs for successful establishment of de-centralized System and said that present govt is working to strengthen the PRI mechanism with more financial autonomy. Moreover, she emphasized upon them to identify their role and co-operate in the field of development.
