Udhampur, J&K, Feb 4 :

Following the neutralisation of three terrorists in Udhampur and Kishtwar districts, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah raised concerns over the persistent infiltration of terrorists into areas that were previously considered safe.

Speaking to media, as per news agency Kashmir News Corner (KNC), on encounters happening in Udhampur and Kishtwar, CM Omar said, “This cycle continues endlessly. They were eliminated, yes, it is ok, but where did they come from? How did they enter Udhampur? How long have they been operating here, and how long will this continue?”

He said, “We were assured this would stop after 2019, yet here we are in 2026, and the incidents persist. In fact, these attacks are now taking place in regions that were completely free of terrorism before 2014-15.”

Omar added, “The question is, how did they reach Udhampur, and how long have they been here? We need clear answers to these questions.”

Commenting on the upcoming visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Jammu and Kashmir, he said, “We will sit down and discuss matters. There are several issues I need to take up with him. We will address them face-to-face.”

Earlier, officials confirmed that the two terrorists were neutralised during a coordinated security operation in Udhampur, while one was killed this evening in Chhatroo, Kishtwar, as part of ongoing counter-terror measures in the region. (KNC)
