No Affiliation with Any Self-Claimed Group; Seasoned Journalists Remain Affiliated with Reputed Media Organizations
Sopore, August 05 :
We, the undersigned journalists, have unanimously decided to dissociate ourselves from a newly formed self-proclaimed group operating under the name Sopore Media Association, effective immediately.
This decision stems from concerns regarding the group’s legitimacy, as many of its members are unfamiliar to us. As a collective of journalists who have worked together for years with reason and responsibility, we cannot associate ourselves with such an entity. Its current functioning does not reflect the true spirit of journalistic unity, accountability, or integrity.
Until a transparent and collective discussion on the association’s future is held, we will operate under the Sopore Working Journalists Association (SWJA), reaffirming our commitment to ethical, fair, and responsible journalism.
All members of our group are seasoned professionals with long-standing affiliations at the District Information Office, Baramulla (DIO). We are dedicated to safeguarding the reputation of the fourth pillar of democracy and upholding the highest standards of journalistic ethics, professionalism, and integrity. Together, we strive to make a meaningful impact in the field.
Among us are journalists with years of experience, having contributed to esteemed media organizations. United in purpose, we stand resolute in protecting this institution. Whatever challenges arise, we will face them together to uphold the dignity of journalism—today and always.
Notably, this decision was made after careful consideration and with the consent of Baramulla district’s only registered media forum, the Baramulla Working Journalists Association (BWJA). We also clarify that the newly formed Sopore Working Journalists Association (SWJA) will operate under the banner of this registered district forum.
