Militants involved in attack identified; perpetrators of the criminal act would be brought to justice soon: DGP J&K

DGP, IGP visited hospital; impressed upon doctors for all possible treatment

SRINAGAR, JUNE 12 ,(CNS)

To pay homage to the martyrs, who attained martyrdom in a terror attack at Armapora in Sopore, a wreath laying for the martyrs was held at District Police Lines Srinagar.

DGP J&K Shri Dilbag Singh led the senior officers of police/ paramilitary forces, civil administration and relatives of martyrs in paying rich tributes to the martyrs. Floral wreaths were laid on the mortal remains for their supreme sacrifice made in the line of duty.

Spl. DG CRPF Shri Sanjay Arora, ADGsP, J&K, Shri S. J. M. Gillani, Shri M. K. Sinha, Shri Danesh Rana, IGP Kashmir Shri Vijay Kumar, IG CRPF (Ops) Kashmir, Shri Deepak Ratan, DIG Central Kashmir Shri Amit Kumar, DIG North Kashmir Shri Sujit Kumar, DC Srinagar Shri Mohammad Aijaz, SSP Srinagar Sandeep Choudhary and other senior officers took part in the wreath laying ceremony.

On the side lines of the wreath laying ceremony, the DGP, J&K told media persons that a police party under the command of PSI Mukesh was deployed at Arampura market in connection with Covid-19 lockdown duties when terrorists opened fire on them. The fire was retaliated. In this incident, four policemen and three civilians were injured. He said among the injured two policemen Constable Waseem Ahmad and Showket Ahmad attained martyrdom and two civilians namely Bashir Ahmad Khan and Showkat Ahmad Shalla also succumbed to injuries. He informed that injured SI Mukesh, SPO Mohammad Danish are stable and injured civilian is also under treatment. The DGP said that the terrorists involved in the attack have been identified and follow up operation has been launched adding that perpetrators of the criminal act would be brought to justice soon.

The DGP said that although due to COVID situation anti- terror operation have got affected yet Police and security force have maintained pressure on terror groups, he added. He further said that terror activities have relatively come down and every possible effort will be made to strengthen peace in J&K.

Later on the DGP, J&K accompanied by IGP Kashmir Shri Vijay Kumar and SP East Srinagar Ms Tanushree visited 92 Base Hospital BB Cantt. Srinagar and enquired about the injured PSI Mukesh and SPO Danish Ahmad. He met the doctors treating the injured and impressed for all possible treatment for their early recovery.(CNS)
