The Director General of Police J&K, Shri Dilbag Sing who is also the Chairman of J&K Rifle Association presided over the prize distribution function of 11th J&K UT Shooting Championship (men & women) at GOs mess Jammu today afternoon.

Sponsored by J&K Sports Council, the 11th J&K shooting championship was organized by J&K rifle association from 20th to 25th this month under the aegis of National Rifle Association of India.

The function was attended by Sh. Mukesh Singh, ADGP Jammu Zone, Sh. Chandan Kohli, SSP Jammu, Sh. K.S Jamwal President JKRA, Sh Sohan Lal, Vice president JKRA, Sh Sharat Chander Singh Vice President JKRA, S Surinder Singh Sodhi treasurer JKRA, Sh Anupam Sambyal, Sh.T.S Tony, Sh Manu Partap Singh, executive members JKRA and Sh VS Pathania and Sh Samardev Singh Charak Members Advisory Committee JKRA while Sh Rajiv Sharma President Hockey J&K and Member J&K Sports council was the special invitee.

Speaking on the occasion, the DGP expressed his pleasure that the Jammu & Kashmir Rifle Association (JKRA) which started a few years ago has now reached to the national level and complimented the president of the association Shri Kuldeep Singh Jamwal and association members for the same. He said that because of the committed efforts of JKRA, the youth associated with the association are performing better adding that budding shooter Ms Aneesha Sharma has been included for the national squad.

The DGP said that J&K Police is organizing various events under its civic action programme for youth of J&K and added that it would provide all possible support and assistance to J&K Rifle Association (JKRA) as well. He appreciated the achievers of the association and wished good luck to them for the future. He then presented medals and certificates to the winners of 11th J&K shooting championship.

Earlier, Sh Kuldeep Singh Jamwal President JKRA presented the welcome address while S Surinder Singh Sodhi Treasurer JKRA read out a brief about the activities and achievements of JKRA. Sh Sharat Chander Singh Vice President JKRA presented the vote of thanks.

The matches were conducted by Mrs Anu Sharma ISSF official nominated by NRAI, Sh Surjit Singh Tarun Dev Singh, Vishal Mehra, Madhupal Singh, Vijay Kumar, Avinash Basotra,Sh Pranav Sambyal, Sh Sahil Sharma under the supervision of Sh Rajesh Virdhy Chairman Technical committee.

Perrinent to mention that Jammu & Kashmir Rifle Association came into existence in the year 2005 and within a record time its shooters have excelled by winning 18 medals which includes 8 Gold, 3 Silver and 2 Bronze in various national events held by National Rifle Association of India (NRAI). J&K Rifle Association is an affiliated unit of NRAI and Jammu & Kashmir Olympic Association and recognized by J&K State Sports Counsel.
