SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER,08 :

The Food Safety Department in Kashmir recently conducted surprise raids in Srinagar district, leading to the sealing of two sweets and bakery manufacturing units.
A total of 1.5 quintals of sweets were seized during these operations. Acting on specific information, the Food Safety wing of the Drugs & Food Control Organization in Kashmir, including the Intelligent Cum Legal Cell and Food Safety Wing Srinagar, conducted surprise inspections in Bemina, Qamarwari, and Dalgate areas,” an official said.
They found that two sweets and bakery manufacturing units were operating in violation of the provisions of FSSA 2006, producing items under unsanitary and unhygienic conditions, which led to the sealing of both units. Samples of the seized sweets were sent to the Food testing laboratory to assess their quality and safety.
The authorities have stated their intention to continue these raids, especially in light of the upcoming festive season, to ensure that consumers have access to high-quality sweets and food items.
Food Safety officials have issued a stern warning to all food business operators, particularly those involved in producing sweets, bakery items, and milk products, stressing the necessity of strict adherence to the guidelines and provisions of the Food Safety & Standards Act.
Any deviation or violation from these regulations will result in stringent legal actions.
To further address consumer concerns and assist stakeholders, individuals can register complaints or grievances regarding food item quality through a dedicated helpline (Toll-Free No. 104).
