Baramulla, January 18:
Principal Secretary to government, Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare Department J&K, Navin Kumar Choudhary accompanied by Director Agriculture Kashmir, Choudhary Mohammad Iqbal today paid visit to Uri Baramulla where he took a detailed review of the developmental scenario in the district especially in Sub Division Uri, besides reviewed sector wise performace of Horticulture, Agriculture and other essential departments.
Reiterating that the value addition of Agricultural and horticultural produce is the only viable option for getting better remuneration, Navin Kumar Choudhary said that Hi-Tech and precision farming methods are being encouraged under a multiple strategy to promote entrepreneurship in agriculture and to cover maximum area under vegetable cultivation in Kashmir valley.
The Principal Secretary made these remarks while he laid the foundation stone of HI TECH Polygreen House at Sheeri Baramulla which the beneficiary has got at a subsidized price.
Interacting with the farmers and enthusiast growers, the Principal Secretary said that the Department is in mission mode for cultivation of multi crops so as to enhance the remunerative outputs for the farmers with the adoption of the modern scientific technologies.
He also took feedback from the farmers with regard to the various departmental incentives being provided to them for the smooth Agricultural and horticultural functioning.
Meanwhile, the Principal Secretary handed over Farm Machinery Viz Tractors, Tillers and other farming tools to the farmers at a subsidized price so as to help them funtion smoothly.
Later, the Principal Secretary also visited Uri where he chaired an interactive meeting with PRIs and various other delegations which aimed to get the first hand appraisal of their concerns pertaining to developmental pursuits. The PRIs and other delegations highlighted several grievances and demands, and sought their timely redressel in order to accomplish the goal of development at grass root level.
The Principal Secretary gave a patient hearing to all the demands and grievances and assured that all the developmental concerns of PRIs and delegations shall be taken into consideration for their timely redressel.
Furthermore, Navin Kumar Choudary also took a separate meeting with the officers where he took a detailed review of the pace and position of developmental works undertaken by different executing agencies in the district.
After taking a sector wise and comprehensive review of the developmental projects, the Principal Secretary emphasized upon the concerned functionaries to strictly abide by the timelines that have been fixed for the accomplishment of these projects.
