Srinagar: More than 100 prominent workers and political activists joined People’s Democratic Party in presence of party’ Chief Mehbooba Mufti and Zonal President Baramulla Ghulam Rasool Bhat. She said that joining of such a large number of workers was a clear indication that people cannot be befooled any more by the deceitful tactics.

“Gone are the days when political parties befooled people by raking up emotive issues now people are intelligent enough to judge good and bad”, Mehbooba Mufti said while appreciating the efforts of Zonal President Baramulla Gh Rasool Bhat aka Beta and other party leadership for strengthening the party at grassroots level. She added that other parties has never allowed democracy to flourish in Jammu and Kashmir.“Indifferent attitude of the government towards problems of people and inordinate delay in conducting election reflects dictatorial mindset of the present dispensation headed by BJP”, she said.

“Democracy is the best way to address aspirations to the people and to involve people in the governance”, she remarked but regretted that present regimes in the state have never allowed the democracy to flourish in Jammu and Kashmir. Pointing towards rampant corruption in the state, Mehbooba observed that governance deficit was the main reason of increasing alienation of the people. “Corruption has crossed all limits due to lack of transparency and accountability in the government”, he said and pointed out the developmental projects started during PDP led regime were hanging in balance due to mis-governance of the present regime.
