Kupwara, June 16 :

Five foreign militants were killed along the Line of Control (LoC) at Jumagand in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district in a gunfight that broke out during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.

In a tweet, ADGP Kashmir, Vijay Kumar , ,said that that five foreign militants have been killed in the encounter and search in the area is going on.

It may be recalled that this is the second gunfight in the district this week. On Tuesday, police claimed that two militants were killed in a joint operation by Army and Police at Dobanar in Machil sector.

Notably, the infiltration graph since the 2021 February pact between the two armies was in decline compared with the figures of previous years including the instances of ceasefire violations.

As a result, tourism activists have started to pick pace at the earlier no-go zones in the region mainly Kashmir Valley.
