On the occasion of World Mental Health Day, 10th October 2024, the Department of Psychiatry and the Department of Community Medicine at GMC Baramulla organized an Awareness cum Mental Health Screening Camp at SDH Uri in collaboration with the CMO Baramulla. Patients were screened for various mental health problems and provided with free medicine and counseling. Clinical services were offered by Dr. Seema Batool (Assistant Professor Psychiatry), Dr. Asif (Senior Resident Psychiatry), and their team.

An awareness program was also conducted at the Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Uri, focusing on general mental health and substance abuse. Senior Professor of Community Medicine, Dr. Abdul Majid Ganai, Dr. Zahid Ali Khan (HOD Community Medicine), and Dr. Tajamul Hussain (HOD Psychiatry) discussed mental health issues with the students.

Dr. Tajamul Hussain expressed gratitude to the GMC Baramulla administration, BMO Uri Dr. Balvinder Singh, Principal of Government Boys Higher Secondary School Uri, and NHPC for their support in organizing the event successfully.(UriToday)
