Doda, Sep 11:

The arrest of sitting MLA Mehraj Malik has entered its fourth day, with large parts of Doda district reeling under restrictions and severe disruptions in daily life.

Authorities have kept Section 163 in force across the district. Internet services have been suspended for the past three days, while mobile connectivity in Bhalesa, Kahara, and Chilli Pingal has remained shut for two days.

Police and paramilitary forces including SSB, CRPF, and CISF have been deployed in strength at multiple locations. Officials have ordered the closure of schools across Doda till September 14.

Locals complain of an acute shortage of ration, drinking water, and other essential commodities. Electricity supply has also remained disrupted for the last three days in Thathri, Gandoh Bhalesa, Chilli Pingal, and Kahara, worsening the crisis.

The restrictions and outages have left locals distressed as normal life continues to remain paralyzed in the district. [KNT]
